BIO
Hello there, my name is Zixin Yang, you can call me Kara.
I am an animator, 3D Generalist, and storyteller with a focus on emotionally driven, personal narratives. My work blends 3D animation with hand-painted textures, mixed media, and subtle visual poetry to explore memory, love, and the invisible threads between people.
I completed my BFA in computer animation at Ringling College of Art and Design and my MFA in Computer Arts from the School of Visual Arts, where I developed my MFA thesis film, a quiet reflection on loss during the pandemic.
With a background in sculpture and story writing, I approach animation as a form of emotional truth-telling. My work often centers on small gestures, quiet moments, and the complexity of human tenderness.
I love to try ice cream from different shops and collect acorns. A big Broadway fan and gamer as well. I love hiking and getting lost in the woods, and I am good at cooking, especially spicy food and soup!
